That's a Wrap - End of Test 1 and 2

The test is in the books at 4:54 pm!

What a great day for the first day of competition at the 2018 National Amateur Retriever Club Championship. The weather was fine and it was a great day to be in the field with your dog.

Once we get the callbacks we will be posting it on the blog and it will also be at the headquarters hotel. To pay close attention to see who gets called back to the to the Third Series.

20. AFC GOLDSTAR MIMOSA, "Mimi" LF, Judy Rasmuson

Mimi came to the blind at 4:50 pm

Flyer - Mimi makes a left bend in her line to pick up the flyer

Retired Gun - Nice line to the bird

Blind - Whistle going into the bales and another 3/4 of the way out and to her bird.


Scratch - 19. AFC GUNSTOCK'S WIN CHESTER, "Chester" LM, Charlie Hays or Yvonne Hays

18. FC-AFC GOOD IDEA'S HAVE IT YOUR WAY, "Whopper" LM, Ken Neil

Whooper came to the line at 4:46 pm

Flyer - Initially a little deep of the bird, Whopper works it out to pick up his bird

Retired Gun - Excellent line to the bird

Blind - Early whistle to get the bales, two more to get through them and a quick safety to end a successful blind.

17. COOLWATER'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT, "Ripley" LM, Alex Washburn

Ripley came to the line at 4:42 pm

Flyer - He got up the hill for a quick retrieve of the flyer

Retired Guns - Ripley got just past the fall area and came right around the bale to pick his bird

Blind - Two early whistles to correct the initial line. Another whistle in the hay bales to drive Ripley up and another as a quick check down.




16. FC-AFC HOCKLEY CREEK'S SWITCH HITTER, "Mickey" LM, Robby Bickley

Mickey came to the line at 4:36 pm

Flyer - Mickey went straight to the bird]

Retired Gun - Very good line to the bird

Blind - Whistle to correct the line up the hill and another through the bales. A third nearly to the blind followed by a couple to get tot he bird.


15. CH COMET'S DEEPWATER ROCK N' ROLL RUBY, "Ruby" CBRF, Linda Harger

Ruby came to the line at 4:30 pm

Flyer - Out to the area of the fall, a quick left turn and over to pick up her bird.

Retired Gun - Ruby lined out way wide. Up the hill and then made multiple loops deep. Working her way down teh hill she came into the area of the fall by the gunner station. From there she worked out the bird

Blind - Three early whistles getting proper line through the bales. She got up the hill and to the bird.



14. PINETREE'S PARTY GIRL, "Snookie" LF, Delma Hazzard


Snookie came to the line at 4:25 pm

Flyer - Up the hill and directly to the fall

Retired Gun - Up teh hill deep fo the bird. Deep of the fall, Snookie makes a few loops to come into the bird.

Blind - First whistle 3/4 of the way to the end. Another quick whistle and Snookie headed back with the bird.



13. FC-AFC STEADFAST'S BACHELOR SPECIAL, "Croc" LM, Monte Wulf

Croc came to the line at 4:19 pm

Flyer - Straight up the hill to the bird

Retired Gun - Croc went high and deep of the fall but worked quickly down hill into the fall

Blind - First whistle at the bale to correct the line. Then two more to push out of the bales and up to the bird.

Rerun - 6. LCR MARSH ISL. HIGH TIDE QAA, "Tide" LM, Mark Kellogg

Tide came to the line at 4:15 pm

Flyer - Marked the fall well.

Retired Gun - Positive mark with good momentum

Blind - Good initial line, three whistles into the bales. Last whistle pushed hjim up the hill and to the bird.

12. FC-AFC DOTTIE RAY'S LEAGUE OF HER OWN, " Dottie" LF, Andy Kahn

Dottie came to the line at 4:10 pm

Flyer - Dottie went straight to the flyer

Retired Gun - She drove straight out to the bird.

Blind - One whistle was just short of the blind. Another whistle and she got her bird

11. FC-AFC SLICK WHEN WET III, "Slick" LM, Ken Jackson

Slick came to the line at 4:05 pm

Flyer - Out and back with the bird

Retired Gun - Coming into area from backside of gunners. A couple loops and he located his bird

Blind - First whistle in the bales, second nearly at the end that was followed by two more quick whistles.

10. FC-AFC DOTTIE MCFIZZ, "Dot" LF, Nancy White

Dot came to the line at 4:00 pm

Flyer - Nice momentum to the area of the fall with a quick pick up bird

Retired Gun - Straight to the bird

Blind - First whistle in the bales and blocked her view but another one to get out of bales. Three more at the end to get Dot on the bird.

9. FC-AFC VALTOR'S HAYSEED KID, "Kid" LM, Breck Howard

Kid came to the line at 3:55 pm

Flyer - He went straight to the bird and came right back

Retired Gun - Drove out under the arc and right to the bird

Blind - Three whistles got Kid up to the two bales. Two more put him to the blind.

8. FC PEPPERJACK'S MARSH SURFER, "Dude" LM, Kerry Lavin

Dude came to the line at 3:50 pm

Flyer - Dude went straight to the flyer and then returned with the wing over his eyes

Retired Gun - He got straight to the bale where the bird was for a quick return

Blind - First whistle about 1/3 of the way out. Next two whistles got the dog through the bales. Several more around the blind to the bird

7. AFC-CFC BAYPOINTS THOUSAND FATHOM EDGE, "Ouuks" LM, Jim Macfarland

Ouuks came to the line at 3:46 pm

Flyer - Ouuks drove straight out to the flyer for a quick retrieve

Retired Gun - Straight to the bird

Blind - Two early whistles to get Ouuks on the line and to the bales. One more cast to drive the dog up the hill to the blind.

No Bird - 6. LCR MARSH ISL. HIGH TIDE QAA, "Tide" LM, Mark Kellogg

Tide went to the line at 3:45 pm and received a No Bird. He will placed back and have a rerun,

5. FC GRANITE PEAK'S GOTTA HANKERIN' FOR TROUBLE, "Hank" LM, Marty Peterson

Hank came to the line at 3:41 pm

Flyer - Hank drove out to his flyer and made a turn to the left to pick up his bird

Retired Gun - Straight to the bird

Blind - One whistle was blown as the dog approached the blind on the right. One more whistle got the dog to the bird.

4. FC-AFC KNOCKOUT PUNCH II, "Joe" LM, Jim Cope

Joe came up to the line at 3:36 pm

Flyer - Joe ran straight to the flyer for a quick retrieve

Retired Gun - He drove up the hill and right to he bird

Blind - Joe carried the initial line all the way to the blind taking only one whistle to stop him at the blind for a quick blind.

1st Series - Final Gun Change and Conditions

The final gun change happened at 3:29 pm after the dog #3 finish. The remainder of the handlers came up and viewed the line. Our next dog to run is #4. We have 17 total dogs left to run.

The sun is out, so the temps have warmed considerably. Winds are still out of the north and has picked up a bit.
