95. FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC PEKISKO'S IRONMAN, "Rusty" LM, Sharon van der Lee

Rusty with owner / handler Sharon van der Lee came to the line at 12:05 pm

Left Flyer - Good line through the pothole, into the next pond, over the point, over the island and up the hill to the area of the fall. A quick check of the area and to the bird.

Left Right - Lined out to the gun station and with a brief check of the area, he is on his bird.

Right Flyer - Through the right pothole, over the island, on the dam he breaks right along the edge of the pond and comes up back side of the gunners. He works out the area to come up with the bird.

Right Retired (handle) - Initial line took him towards the left pothole where he was handled to his bird.

What a great team representing Canada at the 2018 National Amateur Retriever Club Championship!






Handle - 73. FC-AFC ROUGH CREEK'S LIBERTY BELL, "Bella" LF, Mark Medford

Bella with owner / handler Mark Medford came to the line at 11:13 am

Left Flyer - Bella angled left off the line and past the small left hand pond and swam the cove on the left end, crossed the peninsula and exited left of the gun station. She made a wide arc to the right when she exited and crossed in front of the flyer gunners to drive to the bird.

Right Retired - She angled into the right hand pothole pond, crossing the island and driving out the other side to run to the bird in the peninsula.

Left Retired - Bella ran down past the small left hand pond and then caught the corner of the first cove of the large pond. She exited and ran toward the retired gun station before going to the right to enter the cover to retrieve the bird.

Right Flyer (handle) - The dog ran down the land bridge between the two small ponds. She entered the large pond and swam straight across in the open water. She exited and began to run toward the left flyer station. The handler quickly stopped her and sent her right, handling her to the bird.

Great week of hard work for Bella at the 2018 NARC!

Handle 52. FC-AFC Lane's Thrilla N Manilla, "Frazier" LM, Michael Robicheaux

Came to the line at 11:51am

Right Flyer - Through the cover and on his bird.

Left Flyer - Down the mound through the water and up the hill. A quick look of the area and has his bird.

Left Middle - He got to the area without trouble and on the bird.

Right Retired - Coming in right of the area of the fall, Frazier takes a handle to the bird.

Handle - 42. FC-AFC MAKE IT HAPPEN CAPTAIN, "Cappy" LM, Gary Zellner

Cappy came to the line at 11:28 am

Right Flyer - Out to the bird and back

Left Flyer - Cappy went through the water and up the hill making a quick work of the mark

Right Retire - In the pond, but got hung up on the large island for a couple of loops before heading out for the pheasant.

Left Middle - Sent for bird, missed the water and drove the hill. Was handled to the bird.

Handle - 26. FC-AFC TUCKED AWAY AT RIVER'S EDGE, "Tucker" LM, Alex Abraham

Tucker came to the line at 10:40 am

Right Flyer - Past the cover and to the bird

Left Flyer - Flyer high up the hill, Tucker got across the water to the area but after a couple of loops below the gall, the handler put a whistle on him to cast further up the hill to the bird.

Left Middle - Quick work to get to the bird.

Right Retired - Swimming right of island, he arrives to the bird.

Handle - 16. FC-AFC HOCKLEY CREEK'S SWITCH HITTER, "Mickey" LM, Robby Bickley

Mickey came to the line at 9:49 am

Right Flyer - Straight to the bird.

Left Flyer - Mickey angled in the right end of the pond and ran up the hill to retrieve the pheasant flyer

Middle - Mickey swam to the large island in the middle of the pond, he climbed up on it and then re-entered the pond and swam to the far shore. He exited and began to run up the field long of the two middle gun stations. He was handled back to the retrieve the bird on the island.

Right Retired - He angled in to the pond and swam across it staying right of the island. When he reached the far side he climbed out and ran straight to the bird.

Handle - 32. FC-AFC IN THE HUNT'S SHAKE AND BAKE, "Baker" LM, Erik Gawthorpe

Baker came to the line at 3:32 pm

Flyer - Straight out and in with the bird.

Boat - Launched on a good line for the bird

Long - Squaring over the berms, he ends up towards the end of the field and turns right to work into the long retired gun

Left - Line up through the middle of field where Baker is stopped and given a whistle to put him on the bird area.

Handle - 5. FC GRANITE PEAK'S GOTTA HANKERIN' FOR TROUBLE, "Hank" LM, Marty Peterson

Hank to the line at 1:48 am

Flyer - Hank got across the pond to retrieve the flyer.

Boat - He went straight to the pond in line with the island and swam straight to his bird

Long - He angled down the terraced slope and put on a small hunt between the boat bird and left retired gun station. He had to be handled to the bird.

Left - Hank drove straight to his bird.

Handle - 74. FC RMR EBONSTARS MAGIC SH, "Emmy" LF, Frank Higgins

Emmy came to the line at 12:02 pm

Flyer - Emmy ran straight to the pond and grabbed her flyer.

Left - She entered the pond and swam toward the boat bird gunners. Coming out behind them she hunted across the field to the area of the left retired gun station and went quickly to the bird.

Boat - Emmy took a similar line she into the pond and swam between the gunners and the island. She exited on the back side of the pond then came back across to the island and her bird.

Long - Another similar start back down to the pond. She swam across in front of the boat bird gunners and hunted that area. She had to be handled to her bird.


Handle - 60. FC-AFC BAYOU TECHE BREES, "Brees" LM, Cameron Johnson

Brees came to the line at 10:33 am

Flyer - The bird landed on the far shore but Brees marked it well

Boat - Running closer to the guns, than the mark, he swims around the backside of the island.  Brees comes in and looks positive about his next mark

Long - Brees launches on a line for the long retired gun station. He went wide left of the fall area. Took a right just past the area and moved over to pick up a long retired bird.

Left - Brees headed down a similar line to what he had just run. He was handled to retired gun bird.

Handle - 57. FC-AFC KERRYBURKE'S MARSH MADNESS MH, "Maddie" LF, Kerry Lavin

Maddie came to the line at 10:14 am

Flyer - Maddie drove down the hill and swam across the pond to the flyer on the far shore.

Boat - She ran down to the terraced hill and entered the pond on the left end. She exited just beyond the gunners then re-entered the water and swam over to retriever the bird off the island.

Left - Maddie ran toward the left gun station and the hunted in the tall cover between the boat and left gunners station. She worked her way over behind the left retired guns and into the water-filled ditch to get to the berm and find her bird.

Long - Maddie got out through the cover and into the pond. She ran out by the tree line hunting to the right and had to be handled to her bird.

Handle - 55. AFC THIRD CREEK'S BEST SHADOW, "Shadow" LM, Larry Morgan

Shadow came to the line at 10:03 am

Flyer - Down to the water and back with the bird

Boat - Shadow headed out for the bird but swam past  the gun station and under the arc of the bird. He put on a small hunt deep and then back to swim over to the island for his bird.

Left - Shadow had a good line to the bird. After clearing the land berm he almost to hunt and quarter the short distance remaining to come up with the bird.

Long - Shadow's line took him in front of the boat bird gunners and to the edge of the field. he was then handled to the mark.

Handle - 53. FC FLAWLESS EXECUTION - FLEX QAA, "FLEX" LM, Johnny Armstrong

Flex came to the line at 9:42 am

Flyer - Out to the area, a right to the bird and back in.

Boat - Flex made swift work of the bird on the island.

Long Retired - Covering ground quickly, Flex is up the back side of left retired gun but drives out to put a couple loops on and brings back the long retired

Left Retired - Following a similar path for the left retired, he is stopped deep with a whistle. He is over to area but takes a bit effort and a handle to come back with the bird.

Handle - 42. FC-AFC MAKE IT HAPPEN CAPTAIN, "Cappy" LM, Gary Zellner

Cappy came to the line at 9:03 am

Flyer -He went across the mowed area and into the tall grass, Cappy went straight to the flyer in the water

Left Retired - Cappy left the line and angled sharply left to the area wide of the blind. He put on a small hunt in the ditch and then got on the berm and found his bird.

Boat - He went across the mowed area and into the cover, Cappy put on a small hunt behind the gunners before entering the water and retrieving the bird from the island.

Long Retired -He navigated the cover and began to roll into the back of the left retired gun station and the handler blew a whistle and handled to the bird.

Handle - 40. NAFC-FC MULLIGAN OFF THE RAINY "T", "Mully" LM, Randy Spangler

Mully came to the line at 8:48 AM

Flyer - Straight to the bird

Boat - Ran behind the live gunners to the other side of the ditch. He crossed the water to get to the island and the duck

Left Retired - Mully went up the backside of the tree gunners. He put up a substantial hunt deep and then worked his way to the tree and his bird

Long Retired -Heading wide left of the fall, handler puts a whistle on Mully to guide him to the area. The terrain with the berms and terraces makes even handling a challenge.

Handle - 35. FC-AFC BOB AND ED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, "Chef" LM, Ed Krueger

Came to the line at 8:37 am

Flyer - Chef drove out to the flyer through the tall grass and retrieved his bird from the water

Boat - He crossed through the patches and mowed area to got straight into the pond. He swam out to the island and made a quick retrieve.

Left Retired (Tree Bird) - Chef angled the terraced hillside and approached the fall area wide and left. He drove deep and climbed the hill behind the area of the fall before returning back, where he made a couple of passes in the shallow water of the ditches, hunted up the berm to retrieve his bird

Long Retired - Chef had an extended hunt and was handled to his bird.

Handle - 61. AFC LACROSSE'S LOGICAL WEAVER MH, "Woody" GM, Fred Krause

Woody came to the line at 3:23 pm

Flyer - Woody went up the hill and on his bird

Middle - He went down the mowed lane to the outside mark. Woody made a right turn and picked up the middle bird

Left - He was handled to the bird

Handle - 12. FC-AFC DOTTIE RAY'S LEAGUE OF HER OWN, " Dottie" LF, Andy Kahn

Dottie came to the line at 11:29 am

Flyer - Good mark to the flyer

Middle - Extended hunt to the right of tree, handled to the bird

Left - Dottie went out to the bird and back

Handle - 11. FC-AFC SLICK WHEN WET III, "Slick" LM, Ken Jackson

Slick came to the line at 11:20 am

Flyer - Slick crossed the ponds and angled cross the field to the hill. After a tight hunt he returned with his bird.

Middle - After exiting the pond, Slick ran right of the gunners. He made a loop around the gunners deep of the bird, on the second pass he got his bird

Left - He ran the mowed strip pushing further to the right. He had an extended hunt and was handled to his bird.

Handle - 10. FC-AFC DOTTIE MCFIZZ, "Dot" LF, Nancy White

Dot came to the line at 11:12 am

Flyer - Through the three ponds, she went up the hill for a spot on retrieve.

Middle - Arriving right of the tree, Dot took a couple of looks and then over to the left side to pick up her pheasant.

Left - Handled to the bird.
