Series 8 – In The Books
The 8th Series is officially in the books at 3:53 pm with dog #33 finishing the day off.
Tomorrow we will be back at Andy and Shirley Kahn's property by the "Dog Bone Pond." The test dogs will be called to the line at 7:30 am and the first running dog at 8:00 am.

33. TOPBRASS HAWKS BLACKHAWK, "Hawk" GM, Ernie Hawkins
Hawk came to the line at 2:43 pm
Flyer - Hawk charged out to the pond and retrieved his bird from the water
Boat - After an extended hunt between the boat bird and the left retired, Hawk was handled into the water and over to the island to retrieve the bird.
Left - Hawk ran long and wide of the fall area to the left. After passing the water and the berm, he turned right and drove to the bird.
Long - Hawk angled the terraced hill and the berms across the middle of the field and straight to the bird.
Flyer - Hawk charged out to the pond and retrieved his bird from the water
Boat - After an extended hunt between the boat bird and the left retired, Hawk was handled into the water and over to the island to retrieve the bird.
Left - Hawk ran long and wide of the fall area to the left. After passing the water and the berm, he turned right and drove to the bird.

Handle - 32. FC-AFC IN THE HUNT'S SHAKE AND BAKE, "Baker" LM, Erik Gawthorpe
Baker came to the line at 3:32 pm
Flyer - Straight out and in with the bird.
Boat - Launched on a good line for the bird
Long - Squaring over the berms, he ends up towards the end of the field and turns right to work into the long retired gun
Left - Line up through the middle of field where Baker is stopped and given a whistle to put him on the bird area.

31. FC-AFC KIRKWOOD'S BLUE GRADE LADY, "Gracie" LF, Casey Adams
Gracie came to the line at 3:21 pm
Flyer - Gracie went straight to the flyer and retrieved it in the water.
Boat - She drove out to the pond and swam across the left end of it, exiting beyond the gunners. With a quick right run she jumped back in the water and swam to the island to retrieve her bird.
Left - Gracie's path took her out to the left retired running straight at the tree. A left turn at the tree took her right to her bird.
Long - She drove straight out and to her bird.
Flyer - Gracie went straight to the flyer and retrieved it in the water.

Tucker came to the line at 3:11 pm
Flyer - Easy out and back with the bird
Boat - Swimming through the arc of the fall, Tucker turns right at just the correct time to pick up his bird
Left - Tucker is over the berms headed to the tree, turns left in its shadow, and grabs the bird.
Long - Excellent line to the fall. Broke left 3/4 of the way out but corrected and on the bird.

Flyer - Hudson raced to the pond and grabbed the flyer in the water
Boat - He ran to the pond and entered at the left corner. He swam straight to the island and retrieved the bird.
Left - He ran right of the gunners then turned left behind the tree and climbed the berm to get the bird.
Long - Hudson drove out through the cover changes and then made one loop to the right behind the boat bird gunners before driving out straight to the long bird.
Flyer - Hudson raced to the pond and grabbed the flyer in the water
Boat - He ran to the pond and entered at the left corner. He swam straight to the island and retrieved the bird.

Boat - Quickly to the island and back with her bird.
Left - Moving out with good speed, Mimi got across the berms and water hazards to come a little wide left of the fall. A couple zigzags and she has the bird.
Long - Very nice line to the bird.

Mickey came to the line at 2:32 pm
Flyer - Mickey drove down to the pond and across to the peninsula where he turned right and went straight to the bird.
Boat - He crossed the patchy cover and entered the pond and swam to the island and got his bird.
Left - Mickey ran straight to the left retired, navigating the cover changes and never wavering from his line.
Long - Mickey targeted the pond and swam by the gunners who threw the boat bird. He hunted his way from there to the long bird to make the retrieve.
Flyer - Mickey drove down to the pond and across to the peninsula where he turned right and went straight to the bird.

Boat - She went straight in the pond and swam across to the island and right to the bird.

Dude came to the line at 2:01 pm
Flyer - Good flyer.
Boat - Quick swim and he got his bird.
Long - Squaring over the berms Dude goes deep and right of the Left Retire gunner station. He works his way right and to the berm with the long retired gun.
Left - Very good mark.

We have just completed the Gun Change.
So far 22 dogs has run this series. As of right now there has been 12 handles and 4 pickups. There are 9 dogs left run this Water Quad series.

Flyer - Hank got across the pond to retrieve the flyer.
Boat - He went straight to the pond in line with the island and swam straight to his bird
Long - He angled down the terraced slope and put on a small hunt between the boat bird and left retired gun station. He had to be handled to the bird.
Left - Hank drove straight to his bird.
Flyer - Hank got across the pond to retrieve the flyer.

Long - She ran long and out of sight. The gunners were asked for assistance to pick up the dog.
Flyer - Kaylee drove straight down to the pond and retrieved her bird.
Boat - She entered the pond and swam left of the island past the gunners then turned to the right to climb on the island and get her bird.

Flyer - Classy drove through the water and up onto the land behind the fall but quickly returned to the water to get the bird
Left - She navigated the terrain changes and got out to the area between the boat and left retired. After a couple of quick loops in the cover she ran left to the ditch and berm to get her bird.
Boat - Classy ran right of the flyer station, crossed the water and exiting on the far end, then came back to the near shore and hunting the water and shore. Then she had to be picked up.
Flyer - Classy drove through the water and up onto the land behind the fall but quickly returned to the water to get the bird
