which he announced 90% of clubs were in attendance – a quorum.

Mark Medford presented the NARC financials. He pointed out there was
no debt. The biggest difference between 2016 and 2017 was the cost of birds.
The cost of birds were higher and a larger amount was ordered for Wisconsin due
to the larger number of entries.
Mark Medford presented the minutes from the 2017 meeting
in Wisconsin and explained the 2017 financial statement and a motion to accept was made for both.
President Al Wilson came to the podium with general
announcements about the
Hall of Fame. He
congratulated Judy Rasmuson for her induction. The two dogs inducted were Ragin'
Eye Of The Storm and Volwood’s Peaches And Cream. It was also announced Don
Driggers stepped down from the BDHOF / FT HOF in February. Al asked for everybody to keep Don
in their prayers as his health is not good.
Field Trial Hall Of Fame is open for nomination; two amateur
people, two deceased dogs and one professional can be nominated. The top five
of each category will be voted on.

Stracka reminded everybody to please contribute to the Canine Health Fund. A total of $30,000
was donated with $15,000 from Entry Express and the AKC matched it. Last year, the
total raised was $9100. John stated we could do better than that – and the investment was for your current dog and future companions.
Doctor Fran Smith will be present after the meeting and if
interested, you can get evaluated for a certificated of conformation from the
Labrador Retriever Club. The fee for this was $25.

The cocktail party was to be at 6:30 pm at the Douglas County
Fairgrounds. The Workers Party will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at 6:30 pm at
Splitz Bar and Grill in Ten Down Bowling Alley, Roseburg, OR.
The 2018 Judges are Robin Christensen – Mountain Time Zone;
Loren Morehouse – Central Time Zone; and Wes Lee – Eastern Time Zone was
presented with bronze duck statues for the endless of hours of work this past week and for the week of testing to come. Field Trial Chair, Andy Kahn was presented with a statue in recognition for all his efforts as well.

Recognition of the 2017 National Amateur Retriever Club
Champion was made as owners Randy & Mary Spangler were presented a painting of NAFC-FC Mulligan
Off The Rainy “T”, "Mully," donated by Nestle Purina and was presented by Jerry
Cacchio and Mike Bott. The painter is Ross Young.
Andy came to the podium and thanked all the volunteers for
all the hard work. He also mentioned of the major fundraisers being the silent auction, raffle which included a Benelli 20g
Semi-Automatic and a guided Columbia White Tail Hunt – Tickets will cost $100.

Instruction to the handlers…
The first and second series will be a Double and Blind and will be held on the property across from Kahn’s on Sunshine Road. The
caravan for the first 10 dogs to run will be leaving at 6:00 am from the
Bowling Alley (address in the Training Grounds Book). The gunners will be
leaving 5:00 am from the Headquarters Hotel if anybody wants to caravan with them.
Open Ceremonies approximately at 7:00 am with the first test
dog running at 7:30 am and the first running dog at 8:00 am. The Marshal is
expecting the first series to be completed on the first day.
The first running dog was selected by Andy Kahn’s recently
retired dog “Ivy.” Dog number 21, FC-AFC Straight To The Heart-Dagger, LM, “Dagger”
handler Johnny Armstrong will start the National Amateur Competition.

For all marks, handlers will be asked to stand on the mat
and the dogs will be on the mat for the blinds. There will be three holding
blinds. Weather may indicate changes.
Gun changes will be after every twenty dogs and the first 25
handlers will be allowed to come view the line.
